Sandridge Railway Pier Melbourne Circa 1880
The Melbourne and Sandridge railway line was opened on September 12, 1864, and was the first suburban railway in the Southern Hemisphere. The Railway Pier was constructed by Messrs Porter and Robertson Contractors, and the Pier became a favorite spot for Sunday afternoon strolls.
